Taking Our Message to the FCC
On February 1, 2013, members of the New Jersey Phone Justice campaign testified at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition’s hearing on prison phone rates, with guest Commissioner Mignon Clyburn of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The FCC is currently considering placing caps on interstate prison phone rates in response to the Wright Petition – a decade long advocacy campaign by people affected by exorbitant prison phone rates. For more information about the Wright Petition, and how you can take action, download the Campaign for Prison Phone Justice’s guide to FCC advocacy.
We encourage you to send your comments to the FCC to cap interstate rates, and to join our local efforts to get rid of state/local commissions and other unfair costs that our communities must pay just to stay connected with our loved ones behind bars. Contact us at [email protected] today to share your story or join our campaign.
